What is I.D.D. Therapy®?
I.D.D. Therapy® helps draw the ailing vertebral disc back into the proper position, while simultaneously increasing nutrition to the disc. Lumbar decompression is achieved by delivering decompressive forces to the lumbar spine in a safe, progressive manner that begins conservatively and increases incrementally to provide maximum benefits with minimal discomfort to the patient.
Patients are positioned comfortably on their back as decompressive forces are applied that feel like stretching of the lower back. This decompression gently separates the vertebrae several millimeters, creating a negative force in the disc space. This negative pressure creates a suction effect, which pulls the disc back into the proper space. In addition to helping the disc to return to its proper place, the negative pressure in the disc space causes fluids from surrounding tissues to enter as well. These fluids provide the disc with the proper blood and nutrition required for the disc to heal successfully.
As the disc increases its fluid content, it regains its vertical height (about 2 mm) that had been lost through trauma and degeneration. As hydration continues, the height is increased and the pressure is decreased from the spinal nerves, which relieves the original symptoms.
How soon will relief begin?
I.D.D. Therapy® allows patients to receive maximal benefits from a conservative technique. Many people with serious problems will see significant benefits in as few as six to eight visits, with many experiencing no symptoms by their twentieth visit, although results will vary. Treatments are safe, comfortable, and effective. Many patients are so relaxed during their therapy sessions, they fall asleep. Similar to an orthodontist who requires time to work with teeth out of alignment, it takes time to correct a condition within the back, especially when this condition has progressed for a long time without treatment.
Who can benefit from I.D.D. Therapy®?
I.D.D. Therapy® has successfully been used to treat patients from ages 16 to 96 with a wide variety of conditions. Conditions commonly treated include, but are not limited to: disc bulge and herniation, disc degeneration, sciatica, spinal stenosis/arthritis and facet syndrome. I.D.D. Therapy® holds great potential in treating a large population of people who might not otherwise be able to regain health and the ability to enjoy pain-free living, without the restrictions and risks associated with back surgery. If you suffer from chronic, agonizing low back pain and aren’t finding relief from traditional treatments, contact us to see if you could benefit from I.D.D. Therapy. Chances are good you will be glad you did. |
